Inner City Solutions' consultant Simon Borkin took part in this year's London Marathon, completing the 26-mile run through the capital in 4 hours 28 minutes. Simon was undertaking the challenge on behalf of Shelter – the national housing and homeless charity and has to date raised almost £1,500.
Running his first ever marathon, the task was even more gruelling due to the rather unfavourable conditions with temperatures rising throughout the morning. However, Simon added that the support from the Shelter team was fantastic and provided him with the encouragement to finish the course.
He has been involved with Shelter for a number of years and his work at Inner City Solutions has brought him into close contact with key housing issues and the need to raise awareness of housing standards. "Shelter not only focuses on tackling homelessness but seeks to improve conditions across the UK in areas such as private renting and social housing. Furthermore in the current climate, the charity is supporting thousands of people who are struggling with payments or who are trapped in inadequate housing."
